Brownies

Brownie tower

Brownies are so easy to make, and they always turn out delicious. Everyone loves brownies, even people who don’t love chocolate, like me! You can make them plain, or add walnuts for a crunchier result.

Ingredients

  • 100 g butter
  • 150 g dark chocolate
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 g sugar
  • 100 g all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 50 g chopped walnuts

Preparation

  1. Chop the walnuts (not too small) and toast them on a pan or in a tray on a low-temp oven for about 10 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 390°F.
  3. Prepare a square or rectangular pan (makes cutting easier). Grease and line the pan with parchment paper. I use an 8x8 inch silicone pan.
  4. Dice butter and chop chocolate. Place both in a glass bowl.
  5. Place the bowl over a saucepan with boiling water (water should not reach the top). This will act as a double boiler. Leave the bowl there until butter and chocolate melt, without mixing.
  6. In a standing mixer or by hand, whisk the eggs with the sugar to ribbon stage.
  7. Once the chocolate and butter mixture has melted and cooled down, slowly incorporate the egg and sugar mixture into it while beating.
  8. Sift the flour over the batter. Add salt. Incorporate slowly with a spatula.
  9. Add the chopped walnuts (or any other nut).
  10. Give it a vigorous whisk for a few seconds.
  11. Pour the batter in the pan.
  12. Bake for 20 minutes or until batter is set when pan you shake the pan.
